In cleaning up some things from the old blog over here, I thought I would do a follow-up on the first Village Idiot™ Award, ESPN’s J.A. Adande.
I haven’t thought much about old J.A. since he mainly covers the NBA for the World Wide Leader and I simply don’t follow the NBA much, but with the onset of the NBA playoffs and the upcoming summer schedule for Pardon the Interruption, I am guessing I will have to deal with him very soon.
With that in mind, here is a quick look back at J.A.’s fearless predictions from his PTI appearance last August:
- Panthers WR Steve Smith should not be suspended because Bill Romanowski wasn’t suspended for a similar offense.
- Smith was suspended, came back contrite, and the Panthers won the NFC South. Nice work, J.A.
- Phil Mickelson may be headed for a David Duval-like slide into obscurity.
- Phil has won twice on tour this year, and finished in the top 5 at Augusta, besting Tiger in a head-to-head matchup on Sunday. Great call, Carnac.
- Adande postulated that a photo of U.S. cyclists showing up to the Olympics in Beijing wearing anti-pollution masks would be the lasting image of the games.
- Let the pictures speak for themselves. Is the lasting image of the Beijing Olympics:

This American cyclist, or

This guy?
How do I get a job at the WWL? Surely I can do better than this…
